Making Til Laddoos for Sankranthi by Nisha Baliga Shenoy

Sankranthi is a festival celebrated with Til-Gul(Sesame and Jaggery). We make til laddoos and share them with family and friends. Here is step by step method of making Til Laddoos.

Ingredients:
Til ( Sesame seeds ) - 2 cups
Sticky Jaggery powdered - 1 cup
Cardamom powder - 1 tsp
Ghee - 2 tsp

Method:
Roast the Til on low flame till you get a fine aroma. Keep aside.
In a pan, boil the jaggery with 1 tbsp water to form a syrup of soft ball consistency. (To check this , keep a bowl of water by side and put a drop of syrup in it,if u can make a soft ball from it then the syrup is ready , turn off the gas)
Now add the cardamom powder and roasted Til to it and mix well.
Add 1 tsp of ghee and give it a good mix.
Take some mixture in a plate , apply some ghee on your palms and make laddoos of desired size.

Note:
Ladoos must be made while the mixture is still hot or else it will harden.
You can soften it by adding a tsp of water.
If you can't make ladoos quickly , just spread the mixture on a greased plate and flatten with a rolling pin and make square cuts on it to make Til chikkis.
