Bread Bonda

Winter sets in finally in many parts of the world. Be ready to taste a snack that can be made with left over potato bhaji or with fresh potato bonda filling. Tastes better than regular potato bonda. Here's Bread Bonda.
Ingredients:
Potatoes - 200Gms boiled peeled and smashed
Onion - 1 chopped
Green chillies - 2 chopped
Turmeric powder - A pinch
Garam Masala powder - 1/2 Tsp
Lemon - 1/2
Coriander leaves - A handful chopped
Salt - To taste
Besan(Chana Flour) - 1 Cup
Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 Tsp
Asafotoeda - A pinch
Baking soda - A pinch
Water - QS
Oil - For seasoning and for deep frying
Sandwich bread slices - 10-12

Method:
Heat oil in a kadai. fry the chopped onions till golden.
Add salt to turmeric powder, garam masala powder and saute.
Add the smashed potatoes, salt to taste and squeeze the half lemon. Mix well and allow to cool
Prepare a smooth thick batter of dropping consistency with besan, red chilli powder, asafotoeda, baking soda and salt in water.
Make lemon sized balls with potato stuffing.
Trim the brown edges of the bread slices, dip them lightly in a bowl with water, squeeze out the excess water by pressing the bread slice between your palms.

If you are not sure about how much you are supposed to dip the bread slices in water, keep the slice on a plate and sprinkle water over it on both sides till the slice gets moist. Then press the slice between your palms.
Place the potato stuffing on the soaked bread slice, wrap the bread around the ball and press between cups of your palms to seal.
Heat oil for deep frying, dip these balls in besan batter and deep fry on medium heat till crisp and golden.

Serve with hot and sweet chutney or any tomato based sauce of your choice.

Variation: You may also add boiled peas, carrot, beans, cauliflower, sweet corn or such veggies to the potato stuffing.
