Pumpkin Halwa

Pumpkin is a delicious vegetable used in curries, soups, sambar and many other local preparations. Halloween's day in the Western countries is incomplete without carved Pumpkin! Pumpkin is an excellent base for making halwa and kheer. Pumpkin Halwa is addictive stuff and is very simple to make. Children will simply love this sweet dish and others will drool over!
Ingredients:
Pumpkin(Dudhi) - 2 Cups, cubed, boiled and mashed
Sugar - 2 Cups
Ghee - 1 Cup or more
Khova - 1 Cup
Cardamom powder - A pinch
2 Whole cloves and 1" cinnamon stick(Optional)
Chopped Almonds, cashew bits and raisins - A handful


Method:
Heat ghee in a thick bottomed kadai. Roast the clove and cinnamon(Optional). Fry the mashed pumpkin and mix well till water evaporates and raw smell disappears. Mix in the khova and sugar and keep mixing till halwa becomes thick and gummy. Add the cardamom powder and the dry fruits and serve hot.

Is it the same as Kaashi halwa?

Kashi Halwa is made with Bottle Gourd(Gharduddhe). This is made with Pumpkin(Duddhe).
